Generally, when you are restricted to do anything with "other" databases,
you have to find a swift solution to work with your existing version of
R:BASE.

Under such circumstances, you have at least two options:

Take your time and create a one-time script to alias each column as you
wish. Remember, you only have to do this once.

OR

Use R:BASE Turbo V-8 that handles long column and table names accordingly.
