  Fred:

Try this instead: EDIT * FROM &varname

Note the ampersand variable vs. the dotted variable.

Subject: [RBASE-L] - Using a variable table name with EDIT

I do a CHOOSE varname FROM #TABLES and obtain a value for varname.

But when I try to EDIT * FROM .varname I get

-ERROR- Syntax is incorrect for the command EDIT (2045)

If I do LIST .varname, that works and validates the variable.

  Tried quotes, parentheses, nothin' works.

Probably something stupid but I don't get it.
