Hi Mike,
Following your suggestion, I read the .csv file that I saved from Excel as
.csv, into Notepad and it was there as expected.
The interesting thing is that after saving the file as .csv and looking at
it in explorer, it has an Excel logo on it. So dubl clicking just brought it
up as another Excel spreadsheet.
But opening it with notepad, gave me what I was looking for.
Then I was able to get it into R:Base.
So thanks for your help!
Bernie Lis

Hi Mike,
I get the same error whether I use workbook or spreadsheet.
When I try to export from excel as csv, it creates another excel
It doesn't mean anything special because the "File Association" for *.csv
is set to Excel as Excel can read *.csv files natively.
An exported CSV file is still just that, a CSV file. If you would turn
off "hide file extensions of known FileTypes" in your Windows Folder
settings:
Windows Explorer>Tools>Folder Options>View>Hiden Files and Folders>hide
file extensions of known File Types
Then you would see that the Exported file has the CSV extension. Also,
just open it with Notepad and take a look.
spreadsheet -- I don't understand why that is so.

Have you tried importing an "Excel WorkBook" as opposed to an "Excel
SpreadSheet" ?

Hi Experts,
I have an Excel spreadsheet and when trying to import it I get the
following error:
Invalid variant type.
There are 3 sheets but sheets 2 and 3 are empty,
I only want to import from sheet 1
What should I look for?
