Patti,

What you describe certainly should work. Are you certain the fields are
wide enough to display your dates? Do you see the dates when you preview
the report in the Designer?

Another approach is to build a variable outside the report, such as vtitle,
that contains your title line including the dates. Then place the variable
vtitle on the report and make it very wide, centered in the band and center
the text in the object.

Subject: [RBASE-L] - problems with variables on a report

Hi,
In a command file, I prompt users to type in the beginning and ending dates
for the report they want to print. Then I use those same variables in the
heading of the report, plotting them as variable labels. I am sure that the
variables are defined before I saved the report design. I removed the check
in front of "Clear variables after printing." There are several different
reports that are run (and I did the steps listed above to allof them), and
in between, I showed my variables on the screen and the beginning and ending
dates were still defined correctly. But they won't print on the report. I
don't know what I'm doing wrong.
Any ideas?
Thanks,
Patti
