Thanks, Razzak, that will be well worth the trip. Is any particular day /
time best?

I've designed a fairly decent database for a labor union membership that
tracks all the usual data and has some nice forms, reports and apps. It's
still a work-in-progress, but something new has come up.
They want a Grievance Tracking System that will no doubt draw some data
from the membership list, which is the easy part. I'll need forms capable
of handling large amounts of data that is input over the course of the
case. I'll need ways to scan and store supporting documents and have them
instantly accessible and printable. I'll need to store and access photos
and other graphical material pertinent to the case. Deadlines are
critical,
so there will have to be a "tickler"(?) system to warn of upcoming
hearings,
meetings, etc. All this in one neat, easy to access, easy to edit, easy to
understand package. I know RBase is up to the task, but am I?
My questions right now have to do with data types, DB controls, data file
types, and an efficient use of the beautiful Note/BLOB Field
Viewer/Editor.
I've just started playing around with it and I think it's the answer.
Even though my questions are not fully cooked yet, I thought I'd throw
this out there for any input you might have for such a project. Any advice
appreciated. Also any source material. I've got to pull this off and I
know I can because all the tools are there.
Fred,
If you are in town next week, stop by at R:BASE Technologies' headquarters
in Murrysville (you have been here before), and I'll show you a live
system
to handle exactly the same objectives.
A special presentation topic is also scheduled at the 10th Anniversary
R:BASE Developers' Conference (October 17-20, 2008):

Topic: Automating Document Scanning and Management using R:Twain2PDF
Plugin
Have a productive weekend!
Very Best R:egards,
Razzak.
