I'm still running into this problem with RBDOS but it does not yet have the
new scratch syntax available yet.
I'm super happy that everyone so far agrees that it is REALLY fixed in RBWIN.
Until I have everything in RBWIN, I have to deal with RBDOS.
Nothing so far seems to eliminate the problem entirely in that environment.
SET SCRATCH TMP is a fabulous "set it and forget it" feature which I am
drooling for.
Did you know that you can use the "SCRATCH TMP" setting in RBASE76.CFG file,
to take advantage of automated settings for SCRATCH?
Here's how:
01. Locate your default RBASE76.CFG file in path, on your workstation, or
network drive
02. Use any plain text editor or RBEDIT to update the RBASE76.CFG file
Update the line 25 or so as follows:
SCRATCH TMP
03. Save the RBASE76.CFG for R:BASE 7.6 for DOS
04. Start R:BASE 7.6 for DOS
05. At the mighty R> prompt:
SHOW SCRATCH
Notice the user's default TMP folder
That's how you set the fabulous SCRATCH TMP setting in R:BASE 7.6 for DOS.
Having said that, I am testing R:BASE 7.6 for DOS (7.6.4.30909) and I am
also able to use the "SET SCRATCH TMP" command at the R> prompt as well
as in my application startup .DAT file.
Very Best R:egards,
