Subject: [RBASE-L] - RE: Conference Volunteers Needed
Can you let us know the link for the blogging website when it is setup??
I wanted to go to the conference real bad this year and was willing to
split the bill with my employer. But as many other industries, the RV
business is in the slump and we have made many cuts(including my pay) to
keep the doors open. Many other RV manufactures and dealerships have
went out of business this year.
I am really excited to see some snippets of R:Base 9.0. Maybe some
screen shots or new features??

Subject: [RBASE-L] - Conference Volunteers Needed
Thanks to all who have volunteered to help with the conference so far.
We need more! And it's just 2 weeks away.
We are all set with photographers, and with Project Bundle-Up
coordination. Thanks to all who have stepped up!
We also have some volunteers for the coffee/pizza run and for blogging,
but more help could be needed.
The biggest remaining need is for someone who will take charge of
organizing a riverboat cruise for Saturday night. This would involve
doing a little research with the boat company to find out cost and
options (For example, do we make reservations on a regularly scheduled
dinner cruise, or do we have so many we can get our own little cruise?)
The volunteer would also have to take a poll, get a rough count of
interest (including significant others and children), and figure out how
to get people conveniently across the bridge from the Omni to Station
Square where the boats launch. See the quoted message below for more
details. Use of an interactive calendar event with email, where people
can RSVP and add in their guest counts -- like Google Calendar or EVITE
-- would be an efficient way to do this, after the details can be
written up in a description.
We can also use a volunteer, still, to organize car pooling between the
airport and the Omni.
We're going to try some "live blogging" (or close to it) this year.
"Slackers" who don't attend can feel a little bit involved, but mostly
we want them to feel miserable that they're missing this 10th
Anniversary conference and celebration. We have two blog authors lined
up. If you would like to be one of the official blog authors, please let
me know at [EMAIL PROTECTED] Non-authors will be able to
add comments to articles once they are posted. (I'm sorry. We know
you're not all slackers if you don't show up. But it's political season,
so insults and hyperbole just seem natural.)
We can also use someone to facilitate speedy lunch breaks. This will not
be like the movie that was set in nearby
Punxsutawney, PA, "Groundhog Day." For 10 years now, we've gone to the
same hotel and the same restaurants time after time. That all changes,
because we're right downtown this year, in a beautiful facility, but one
where Razzak and we haven't trained the whole staff yet to know how we
do things. This volunteer could figure out what the hotel has to offer,
whether any pre-ordering is possible, and what other fast lunch venues
are nearby.
Thanks again! Volunteers, please respond to me
<mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED]> , not to the whole list.

Developers,
It's just 3 weeks until we will be packing our bags for the 10th
Anniversary R:BASE Developers Conference in Pittsburgh.
We need a few volunteers to handle the usual -- and unusual -- tasks
during the conference. Can you help? If so, email me
<[EMAIL PROTECTED]> <mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED]>
and let me know.
* Official Photographer -- take digital photos and make them available
on-line for all the world to see
* Official Blogger -- take notes, and post them, so people who missed
the conference will know what they missed
* Bundle-Up Controller -- collect and safeguard donations to our annual
charity, The Salvation Army and WTAE-TV's Project Bundle Up
<http://www.projectbundleup.com/about.php> (Don't forget to pack some
extra cash!)
* Airport Rides Broker -- connect people needing rides with people
offering rides to and from the airport to the Omni William Penn
* Captain Domino Starbuck -- collect money for, and pick up coffee and
pizza for the midnight session
* Riverboat King or Queen -- determine about how many are interested in
a Saturday night dinner cruise where the Allegheny, Ohio, and
Monongahela Rivers converge, around the most beautiful nighttime
cityscape in America, <http://www.panoramio.com/photo/5628541> and make
reservations for the group. For example, the Gateway Clipper
<http://www.gatewayclipper.com/charters/gSocialEvents.asp> Captain's
Dinner Cruise Boards at 5:30 at Station Square, departs at 6:30 pm,
returns at 9:00pm, and features a dinner buffer and live entertainment.
Let me know what you can do!
