Jan:

I client just got a Samsung Ultra for field data acquisition. Are you by any
chance using the built in camera to capture photos directly to a form? If
yes, how are you bringing pictures into forms, DLLs?

Dan,

I have the same challenge. But I hope to have it resolved at the conference
in 3 weeks.

I have invested in 11 Samsung Ultra's for field deployment and need to
figure out

the signature capture.

Still hoping someone can help with this. Anyone have experience with this
or an Idea where to start?

Razzak,
I am reading between the lines, and dreaming a bit. Are you saying it is
possible to have a form with an editable field that you could 'write' in on
a tablet PC?
That is exactly what I am trying to copy another vendor was trying to sell
my Boss. If I can emulate that, we will be buying 15 Tablets, and I am
writing a whole Service Tech suite to do invoicing in the field and trasmit
the data back so we can have our numbers in real time rather than waiting
days for paper invoices to come back in, then having someone type them all
in.
But capturing a customer signature is the key.

I just realized on re-reading that I made a mistake in my paragraph
below. Since it could not save the signature as a bmp of jpg it was
pretty USELESS for interfacing with RBase.

Remember, nothing is impossible!

Did you know that you can use "any" format to interface with R:BASE,
including the multi-page images?

Here's a comprehensive list of supported formats for R:BLOB Editor
in R:BASE 7.6, Turbo V-8, and R:BASE eXtreme (ver 9.0) for Windows:

. DCX File (.dcx)
. Enhanced Meta Files (.emf)
. GIF File (.gif)
. Icon Files (.ico)
. JPEG (.jpg)
. JPEG (.jpeg)
. Meta Files (.wmf)
. Portable Network Graphics (.png)
. TIFF File (.tif)
. TIFF File (.tiff)
. TrueVision Targa (.afi)
. TrueVision Targa (.tga)
. TrueVision Vista (.vst)
. Windows Bitmap (.bmp)
. ZSoft PC Paintbrush (.pcc)
. ZSoft PC Paintbrush (.pcx)

In addition, using the R:CADViewer, you can also manage any CAD
drawing and document with the following CAD extensions:

.hgl, .hg, .hpg, .plo, .hp, .hp1, .hp2, .hpgl, .hpgl2, .gl2,
.prn, .spl, .tif, .tiff, .fax, .bw, .bmp, .rgb, .rgba, .sgi,
.cel, .pic, .tga, .vst, .icb, .vda, .win, .pcd, .ppm, .pgm,
.pbm, .cut, .pal, .rla, .rpf, .psd, .pdd, .psp, .png, .rle,
.dib, .ico, .emf, .wmf, .jpg, .jpeg, .gif, .pcx

FWIW, the following related topics are also scheduled for the
10th Anniversary R:BASE Developers' Conference:

. Managing Binary Large Objects (BLOBs)
. Managing CAD Drawings and Documents in R:BASE
. Automating Document Scanning and Management using R:Twain2PDF
  Plugin

Very Best R:egards,

Razzak.
