When I first started using the application designer, I assumed

Remember, nothing is impossible!

It could even be a full-screen application with some form of a
taskbar to manage R:Base windows. (Maybe with the ability to
snap commonly used components into place within the application
window?)

Take a look at the sample application (RRBYW14) included with
R:BASE Turbo V-8.

\RBTI\RBG8\Samples\RRBYW14

There are two option to run this application.

01. Using internal variable form.

    Form Name: RRBYW14MainMenu

02. Using External Form File

    Form Name: RRBYW14MainMenu.rff

Does anyone have an example of a self-contained application
they've created, or perhaps a suggestion for a different
direction I should aim?

Take a deep look at both forms mentioned above.

In addition, there are over 60 applications that demonstrate
different options and techniques of designing self-contained
menu-driven applications in R:BASE.
