Paul, Hardware wise, are both servers the same? Hard disk speed, CPU, and memory play important roles in throughput stats. I have one Server 2008 installation and it performs well. However, I don't think it is much faster than 2003. Not a really fair comparison but I will post the results anyways. Linux 00:00:01.547 look-up times Win08 00:00:00.468 look-up times almost more than 3x faster!! This was run from the same desktop to both server boxes on the same switch. The Win 08 has a 1000 nic and faster and is more up to date. The Linux is tried and true still running from 2001. It will be update within the month to a comparable system like the Windows to test on. Just thought some people might want to know. Yes other people were logged in both systems and the Windows is being dragged down handling DHCP and all the other things a Windows Server does. I kept hearing little things back and forth about speed. So I said what the heck and had nothing better to do - this is getting too deep.... signing off! Farthest from the truth - trust me. Sincerely, Paul
