To my understanding, the wisdom of our government concerning cash for clunkers is:
SUV trade in... new vehicle only has to get 5 miles / gallon more. Mustang fits that bill. Car trade in.... new vehicle has to get 10 miles/gallon more. (SUV's are EVIL don't you know! It is not so much about getting better mileage, just that we need to fit the rest of the world's view on vehicles.) Oh, by the way. The government has given away BILLIONS of OUR dollars to GM and Chrysler, because they are not selling enough cars and are about bankrupt. Cash for Clunkers, an opportunity to help those companies sell cars..... does not discriminate between foreign and domestic. Go buy a foreign car and watch our tax dollars go over seas as Cash for Clunkers works just as well for them!!!!!!
