Tip #1: Fast Indexing and Deletes
Using the latest updates of R:BASE eXtreme 9.0 (Release Candidate 1),
you can simply PACK INDEX (even in a multi-user environment) to take
advantage of the latest enhancements.
To test this scenario:
01. Apply the latest updates of R:BASE eXtreme 9.0 (32/64)
02. Start RBG90 (32 or 64), CONNect to your database and try the
following at the R> prompt, for example:
CONNECT RRBYW16
SET FEEDBACK ON
PACK INDEX
Notice the speed ....
If you have a database with millions of indexed rows, you can
see the actual difference when indexing, inserting or deleting
rows with a WHERE clause.
