Technically, if you have more than one files opened as separate tabs,
then File | Close File, or right-click on appropriate tab and select
[Close Tab] will close that particular file. However, with only one
file opened, close file will also close the editor.
Hope that explains the current behavior, by design.
However, if you need to keep the editor open, click on [New] icon on
the tool bar to always leave a file as [Noname]. This will allow you
to close all other tab(s) accordingly.
