Jan,

Technically, Variable Controls offer "variable length" options and
variable length data types to collect and manipulate the resulting
"Variable Strings" results. However, such option is not available
when working with data bound controls, due to the nature and
underlying properties of DB Controls. Thus, it is not an oversight.
