I couldn't wait to see if my main menu image was a variable, but it isn't.
Just for fun, I will remove the image altogether and see if that makes any
difference. I am running the same year-old compiled V8 version of my
application which didn't start misbehaving on one single XP machine until
late 2010 and which partially prompted me to get new WIN 7-64 workstations,
not upgrades. I'm also in the process of eliminating a WIN 7 startup error
message relating to Small Business Server 2003 (KB 930056).

When I upgraded from 7.6 to 9.0 I had a big issue with networked computers.
This is what I was doing in 7.6. My main form would load a var image and
display it in the main startup menu. This worked fine at 3 locations across
each network. When I upgraded to 9.0 all of a sudden when I tried to run
the app it would crash, I had posted this with numerous responses but no
solution. I had done nothing(NOTHING) to my database just recompiled my app
in 9.0. After many hours I stumbled across what would become the solution.
If I change the image on the main form from a var image to just an image it
worked. Don't know how but it did. That was all I did and it has been
working like a charm since.

Interesting, mine is a stand alone PC.

I never really ran v9.0 on my old 32-bit Windows 7 machine - it died within
days of installing v9.0 - but I don't remember any similar problems.

Alastair,

I'll confirm another example of what you describe, but for only one of 6
workstations, all running W7-64 and running V9.0 (64). The other 5 can exit
normally. We have spent way too many hours examining everything from virus
and internet security to video settings to NICs to services running.

I guess now is the time to add my experiences with v9.0 on W7-64:

R:Base rarely closes properly - from my app, from the R:>, from anywhere.

R:Base "hangs" if my screen power-saver kicks in - I see it when I go back
in, obviously.
