I have a client who is attempting to set up Gmail Google Apps for Business
protocol for sending R:Mail 9.1 email messages.

The R:Mail command file shows:

PLUGINS RMail v1|HOST_NAME smtp.gmail.com

PLUGINS RMail v1|HOST_PORT 587 (also tried 465)

The error message is:

100 - Cannot send e-mail message. (Must issue a STARTTLS command first.
p33sm2340941ybk.2)

STARTTLS is not an available setting in the RMail list of command.

R:BASE Support has indicated that this cannot be done directly to the Gmail
server but has to go through the client's ISP. From another program, the
client already sends via Gmail with Classic ASP code that includes these
command lines:

MailObject.Configuration.Fields.Item
("http://schemas.microsoft.com/cdo/configuration/smtpusessl";) = True

MailObject.Configuration.Fields.Item
("http://schemas.microsoft.com/cdo/configuration/smtpserverport";) = 465

Using the same user/password as the R:Mail program, his protocol sends but I
get this error.

I told him I'd post it to the list to see if anyone had a workaround or
other method that could be used with R:Mail to get this to work.

Thanks!

Sami
