I don't have a clue what the rush is to 64 bit OS, excluding graphic
workstations and servers, which can advantage the additional addressable
memory, but for our desktop use, I just don't see it yet. Who needs more
than 3 gig addressable memory? Not me... Yet.
Maybe Microsoft is just preparing us for when everything they put out is
based on Dot Net ( I hope that never happens!).
Yet from what I have read lately, they seem to be suffering from bipolar
disorder.
They push Dot Net out one side of their mouth, then the other side, they
have a big push on to elevate the status of C++ development and the
continuation of COM, which is definitely not Dot Net.. and they have backed
off on the advancement of VB.net (looks like C# is their favorite child)
So WTx gives?

Thanks, Mike – somehow I am not surprised.
It seems to me that W7-64 is far more trouble than it’s worth. It was
pre-loaded on the new PC I had to buy nearly a year ago. R:Base, in
particular, seems to dislike it and I don’t have the time any more to try
and solve things that I can’t demonstrate to anyone.
I’ve been tempted to buy a copy of W7-32 but who knows if that cause more
problems with the hardware!
Actually, if it’s not tempting fate too much, it seems that the latest
release of R:Base corrects the EXIT problems that I had been having although
nothing is mentioned in the “What’s new” so it might just be luck.
Regards,
Alastair.

I should have said that this is v9.1 latest (10428) on W7 64bit.

Subject: [RBASE-L] - Missing letter U
Can anyone explain this for me, please:
R>SET KEYMAP [Alt]R TO 'RUN D:\DBCopy\Source\CommonCMDs\RPrompt.RMD [ENTER]'
[Press alt-r gives:]
R>RN D:\DBCopy\Sorce\CommonCMDs\RPrompt.RMD
-ERROR- Unrecognized command - retype it ( 40)
Notice the u is missing from run and source! And it is not the only keymap
that looses U's.
Thanks in advance,
Regards,
Alastair.
