Michael,

I don't use 7.6 anymore. I upgraded a long time ago to V8 and since then to
9.1 (64).
I could have sworn that I watched Razzak in one of the trainings connect to
7.6 from 9.1 (32).
Maybe you should try it on a backup copy.

When I originally converted from DOS, I did all the changes to forms in code
in a
TOTALLY SEPERATE database. When I was happy with what I had done, I wrote
a good import routine and exported all my data from DOS and imported into
7.6.

Subject: [RBASE-L] - Rbase 9.1 Database differences

Hi Jan,
On Page 35 of
R:BASE eXtreme 9.1 (32) Getting Started Guide, it says....

Q: Can I use my previous version of R:BASE with R:BASE eXtreme 9.1 (32) to
connect to my
database?
A: No. The internal database index file format for R:BASE eXtreme 9.1 (32)
is different. After the
database is converted to R:BASE eXtreme 9.1 (32), the files should not be
used with any other R:BASE
version.

Am I misunderstanding the above?
I don't recall seeing this same information associated with previous
updates.

Mike

I think you are thinking of the diffences between 32 and 64.
You can't open 9.1 (64) with 7.6.

I think that you can connect to 7.6 from 9.1 (32) and read the tables.
What you can't do is create a form in 9.1 and expect it to work in 7.6.

Thanks Jan!
Based on that notice, it looks like they might entertain requests up until
10/14/11, but maybe not. I will be using to 9.1 asap, but I am not a
professional programmer, so it might take me longer.

>From what I can tell by reading the quick start guide, a database that is
create with 9.1 is somehow inherently different than databases created with
other versions, so the other versions can never be used with a database that
has been opened with 9.1.
Is that correct or did I misunderstand what I read?
Mike

I think the date was October. I deleted the announcement.
You can try but if your date of purchase is greater than a year ago then
you will have needed to purchase the SAP in order to have your "bug" fixed.

If your database will remain under 2G then just move up to 9.1.

I thought the date for non support was sometime in October, has it already
passed?

Michael,

I believe that you answered yourself.

You are aware of and have probably received the announcement that 7.6 and
8.0 are no longer being supported.
7.6 is replaced with 9.1 (32) and 8.0 is now 9.1 (64).

That's overly simplistic and Razzak will chime in here shortly.

I know that Rbase 7.6 is soon to be unsupported, but I was wondering if it
is still possible to submit bug reports or enhancement requests for version
7.6?
If so, how do I do it?

TIA
