According to the help, TIMEOUT should only reset on a keystroke.
I remember a few years back that TIMEOUT had to be fixed to 
respond to the mouse as well.

I think it is because any program activity resets timeout.
 
You might try a form timer to do what you want.

I have a form that has a clock status pane on it, but I want to set a 
timeout, and the problem is that every minute the time changes and seems to 
reset the timeout.  Is there a way around this.
