I have been writing checks out of Rbase for years using a laser
printer. I use a single check per page on 8.5 x 11 that includes two
perforated sections that you can format for any use. I use one
section as a duplicate of the check itself for reconciliation
purposes, the other could be used for detail for the vendor. I use
Product DLT103 from Deluxe with MICR code in place, but obviously,
you could use any check blank you want.
Check out (ICAP2(dwrd(CHECTOT ))) in an expression to enable the
written amount on the check. (CHECTOT is the column in Rbase holding
the check amount.) Checks are created using a form that links to
vendor information, and all the check data including the memo field,
is saved in a table for future reference or other use.

amount, check no and order no, then print.
We now keep the customers check data in our database too, as

Now the question is, if all the data is already in our system, why
not just print right out of R:Base?

As Dennis mentioned, you will need to use magnetic ink/toner; many banks
will have to process checks manually if magnetic ink is not used and will
assess an extra charge per check. I recall it was available for most
mainline printers but the cost was higher.
Also, at the time the MICR font was not available for free download and
there was cost associated with it.
By the time I added all expenses, including paper with safety features, I
figured it was much cheaper (at least for my projected quantities) to order
the pre-printed checks and simply print the name, amount, address and memo
which you can do with any printer. Plenty of reasonably priced suppliers out
there.
