Mike,
You indicate that if I had 9.5 Oterro I would be able to accomplish the task.

" I am pretty sure if you were up to date, we wouldn't be having this exchange
of ideas for a kludge to make your program work the way you want"

Are you saying that Oterro 9.5 will Launch as I need or there is some other
function available in it. I will certainly look into Oterro 9.5 if it will do
what I need
and it can work with a v8 database. (It still uses the RX1..4 file extensions)
Upgrading our entire system to 9.5 is not an option at this time, but Oterro
9.5
might be the answer if it will Launch and work with a v8 database or you
know of another method that will work with 9.5. I certainly do not want any
kludges in my program.

Thank you,
-Bob

Subject: [RBASE-L] - RE: Oterro / Stored Procedure question

The Oterro instance is NOT in the Rbase Instance. That's why there is no
GUI. If you remember, Oterro was created as an Extract from RBase as
everything RBase except the GUI part. If there is going to be a mechanism in
Oterro to be able to host an extraneous program allowing visual displays, it
would have to be added to Oterro. Not to say that it won't be done or isn't
being done, but the version you have is not going to work for you. The best
you can do is create something that polls for the marker file at whatever
period of time works for you and if the marker file is present, display it
then. The following is just my .02, which may be discarded or pondered..
I'm not going to belabor the issue of keeping current with the software, but
it always amazes me that there isn't a second thought about getting the
latest and greatest OS on a computer. I know there are holdouts that are still
running XP, heck I have XP on the box I work on, the only holdback for me is
the mountain of software installed on it takes me a day to install when I
change the OS. But having said that, ALL the software I depend upon for my
business IS up to date, including Visual Studio 12 and Delphi XE. I am pretty
sure if you were up to date, we wouldn't be having this exchange of ideas for
a kludge to make your program work the way you want. That's about all I
can figure for you at this time. MIke -----
