I still get an illegal select function (2511).

Here's an example of Correlational Update Command ...

    UPDATE ClientMaster SET LastHomeVisit = (MAX(VisitDate)) +
    FROM HomeVisit,ClientMaster +
    WHERE ClientMaster.ClientID = HomeVisit.ClientID
