Razzak,
Thank you very much for your thoughtful and comprehensive reply. I will be
visiting this customer next month and will have a chance to see first hand
their short and long term IT plans.
It sounds like a big commitment on the part of the developer and the
customer.
But, it is always heartening to know that RBTI never allows R:Base to become
obsolete. And, yes, I understand that we should all update our applications
to the current version of R:Base.
Dennis,
You are very welcome.
Just remember, if we don't take care of loyal R:BASE customers with vested
interest in R:BASE, someone else will. They can search and read everything
about the currently available versions of R:BASE at www.rbase.com.
R:BASE Technologies is doing all it can to keep R:BASE alive and provide all
of you with the best product and ample opportunities to keep your livelihood,
full-time/part-time jobs, consulting jobs, and not to mention the supplemental
income for those on Social Security, and more ...
Since the introduction of R:BASE eXtreme 9.5 in May 2012, lots of R:BASE
developers have lost their clients due to their inability to stay current,
lack of product knowledge, and not being able to upgrade their client's
legacy databases/applications to the latest and greatest, fully compatible
versions of R:BASE eXtreme 9.5 (32/64) for Windows.
Good luck with your visit next month.
Should you have further questions or require any assistance, feel free to
reach out to me.
Very Best R:egards,
Razzak.

Just curious if anyone is providing a SaaS option for their RBase
application.
If you have a web/internet application and are hosting the customer, then
certainly you have the option of charging a monthly fee as opposed to a site
license. R:Web, SaaS, etc., are all a bit cloudy to me.
Dennis,
Technically, SaaS (Software as a Service) allows a software and/or solution
provider to host a fully customized and automated application (software)
and associated data centrally hosted on the cloud. Then, depending on the
application, SaaS is accessed by users using either a thin client or MS
Hyper-V (Windows 2012 SR2) via a web browser.
In reference to R:BASE Cloud www.rbasecloud.com, before even thinking about
or providing such solution and services, your application, and underlying
version of R:BASE, must be up-to-date and fully compliant with the latest
operating systems, including MS Windows 2012 SR2.
So, if your application is up to par, and if you have kept your R:BASE
customers up-to-date with the latest & greatest of what R:BASE has to offer,
and if you wish to live up to the highest expectations of demanding R:BASE
clients, I will be more than delighted to show you how R:BASE Cloud has come
along and has been living up to the high demands of our government and
corporate customers who are using R:BASE eXtreme 9.5 (64), Oterro 9.5 (64),
and Node.js (for R:Web portal applications). A major multi-site application
is currently under development and internal testing, to be deployed soon.
If the answer is yes, my schedule and time permitting, let me send you a
private invitation at www.join.me/RazzakMemon to demonstrate a few R:BASE
applications (with consent from our customers), to witness the design and
deployment of R:BASE eXtreme 9.5 (64) applications as R:BASE Cloud on MS
Windows 2012 SR2.
Very Best R:egards,
Razzak.
