To to "View / Toolbars" and make sure "Edit" is checked. If it is (and this has happened to me) then it is hidden somewhere because it can't fit on your screen. If you move one of the toolbars to a new row, it would free up space and the "edit" will magically appear.

I have been unable to change the contents of a text/Unicode label in Reports (not a mailing label). All I can do is delete the old label and add a new one in it's place. When I click on the label I want to change, there is no box in the toolbar for me to edit the existing text. If I right-click, I don't get any Object Property option to change it there.
