Only the lines works, but that's what I needed anyway. I'll look some 
more at the width setting, but I think it is because my screen is 
maximized on startup. Thanks for the post.

This may or may not be of help, but I created a program some time back 
to use the CVAL Screensize option to determine the best width/lines 
approach.  It takes some testing to find what works best.  But may be 
you can adapt something from what I've done.
