At one of my clients, they plug in a USB scanner and it is recognized as a removeable disk. So my RBase program simply retrieves a file E:\Scanner.txt
They are going to buy a different scanner which they will also plug into the same USB port and import into the same RBase program, but the file will be in a different format. So what I would like to do is automatically "recognize" what device is plugged in. Is there any kind of environment value that I can retrieve that distinguishes one USB device from another, some kind of "name? Otherwise I'll just have to ask them to select the device from a list. Would be cool if I could automate it though! Karen
