I am using the following command to create a table named “CUST”.

“Project cust from customer_shipments_acctng using *”

This command takes from 10 to 12 minutes to complete. The table created contains
9 columns and 40,659 rows.

The view takes about 1 second to open.

I have also tried “Project temporary cust from customer_shipments_acctng using *”
which takes the same amount of time.

I have run a command file and also typed it in at the R prompt with the same results.

RBASE is on a Windows Server 2008 R2 Standard
Processor: Intel® Xeon™ CPU .320 GHz
Install memory: 32.0 GB

Does anyone know of a faster way to create a table from a view?

David,

If I understand your question correctly, the customer_shipments_acctng is a VIEW,
and you are trying to PROJECT a new table based on that VIEW. Is that correct?

If that is the case ...

Technically, views are simply the dynamic result of structured SELECT command.

However, the speed of retrieving and displaying data depends on the linking
columns used on each side of the "=" sign.

You may review those columns and associated tables and make sure that they are
properly INDEXed which helps when selecting and/or projecting data.

Hope that provides you with some blue's clues ...

Feel free to reach out to me with any questions.

Very Best R:egards,

Razzak.
