What version are you using? I just now tried it on 7.6 and 9.5 32-bit
and on version X 64-bit and it works for me in all 3 versions. Shows only
the PDF files that start with the letter I specified.

You have alot of parameters that I don't have in my statement. Have you
tried just using the pared-down plugin command that I used? Or just start
with just the filter, and if that works add more parameters until something
doesn't work?

Karen,

With or without the # sign it still does not limit the pdfs to just those with
17124.
I have done it both ways with the same result. All the pdfs in the folder show.

Per the Help file, the # sign is just for multiple file types (BMP and PDF).

You're missing the "#" sign
It should be:

vfilter = PDF Files (*pdf)#17124*.pdf

Still getting all the pdfs not just the ones starting with 17124
Here is the code I used.

SET VAR vfilter = 'PDF Files (*pdf)#'
SET VAR vtotpath TEXT = ((CVAL('CURRDIR'))+'\pdflist\')
SET VAR vinv TEXT = (CTXT(17124))
SET VAR vinv2 TEXT = (.vinv+'*.pdf')
SET VAR vfilter = (.vfilter + .vinv2)
PLUGINS LoadFileNameplus vFileName+
|INITIAL_DIR &vtotpath +
|SHOW_BUTTONS ON+
|CREATE_FOLDER_ICON OFF+
|DELETE_FOLDER_ICON OFF+
|WIDTH 500+
|HEIGHT 400+
|FILTER &vfilter+
|HIDE_READ_ONLY ON+
|INCLUDE_NON_FOLDERS OFF+

RETURN

The variables are what they should be.
vtotpath = C:\RBTI\RBG95_64\pdflist\
vinv = 17124
vinv2 = 17124*.pdf
vfilter = PDF Files (*pdf)17124*.pdf

Here's some of my code. I had to put in a variable to get it to work:
SET VAR vfilter = 'PDF Files (*.pdf)#'
SET VAR vpdfspec = (CTXT(.fPOTran) + '*.pdf')
SET VAR vfilter = (.vfilter + .vpdfspec)

PLUGINS loadfilenameplus.rbl vFilename|fullpath on +
|TITLE Please select the POTran document +
|VIEW_MODE Details +
|INITIAL_DIR ..\..\DOCS\POTRAN +
|FILTER &vfilter

In the folder there are two pdfs starting with 17124
I created a variable for the pdf(s) I want to choose from, vinv = '17124'

Here are the results:

|FILTER PDF Files (*.pdf)#.inv*.pdf it opened the proper folder but showed no
pdf files.
|FILTER PDF Files &vinv_.pdf it shows all the pdf files in the folder.
|FILTER PDF Files (*.pdf)&vinv*.pdf it shows all the pdf files in the folder.
|FILTER PDF Files &vinv*.pdf it shows all the pdf files in the folder.

What am I doing wrong? The filter does not seem to work.

I think you can use the loadfilename plugin to browse and filter. Then use the
launch command on the selected pdf.

Example filtering pdf starting with "def" in the filename

PLUGINS LoadFileName vFileName+
|INITIAL_DIR x:\ +
|SHOW_BUTTONS ON+
|CREATE_FOLDER_ICON OFF+
|DELETE_FOLDER_ICON OFF+
|WIDTH 500+
|HEIGHT 400+
|FILTER PDF Files (*.pdf)#def*.pdf+
|HIDE_READ_ONLY ON+
|INCLUDE_NON_FOLDERS OFF+

I understand the CMD_EXPLORE is used to open a specific folder.

Can this code or is there another code that can open a folder but then only
show files within that folder based on a variable?

I do not want my user to have to search through all the pdfs.

I know I can launch a specific pdf based on the order number.

However if there are two pdfs due to a split shipment, I want the user to see
just those pdfs rather than all the pdfs in the folder.

Or if both can print to the screen one after another that may work.

The pdfs will have the first eight common digits with the last being different.
