Ah I was trying the format mask in the properties. Just use the display format 
under tables and it does it for you.

FWIW ...

This is not a bug.

The "Display Format" for the Report/Label Designer (as an output device) is 
different from the "Format Mask in the Form Designer (as an enter/edit device).

Basically, reports will accept
"$#,0.00;($#,0.00)", but forms accept a different format.
Please refer to the "Using Format Mask in Form Designer" chapter within the 
Forms Help file.

Hope that provides you with some blue's clues ...
