Yeah, that would be an update nightmare if you had to get the .exe to
everyone's computer!

I have the cfg, dll, and compiled exe on the server. The users have a shortcut
to the exe on the server.

That way when an update comes out I update the dll and recompile the exe on the
server. Nothing has to be done with the users.

Thanks. I do recompile the applications after every update.
Presently I have the DB files and the CFG files on the server (G) drive.
Thankfully I embedded the DLL file into the compiled app.
If I decide to not embed the DLL I now know to have it on the server.

However I thought the compiled exe was to be copied to each individual
computer's C drive, not the server.
Do I have that wrong as well?

So now I have:
Server (G) drive
DB files
Rbengine95_64.CFG file

Each Individual C drive
Compiled application (.exe) file with embedded DLL file.

Is this not correct?
Is the compiled exe file supposed to be on the server as well?

1) Yes - where your comp. files (exe), cfg, and your DB are
2) In my case only updates - after an update I recompile my files. Then I add
the recompiled files and the new dll to my db folder Fritz

Recently on the list there was a discussion regarding compiling with the
embedded engine VS outside the application.
I saved the thread and just reviewed it.
All this time when people were taking about embedding, I thought they were
talking about the CFG file.
Now I see that is not the case. (Sorry for my ignorance) So here are a couple
of questions?

1) If I decide not to embed, do I just copy the DLL file to my server?

2) I noticed the DLL date changes. What causes the DLL file to change?
