Aloha Tom,

Here's what you have to do to bypass Acrobat PDFWriter's
Save As Dialog Box to create a default file name using
Windows NT 4.0.

Using Acrobat PDFWriter 4.0 for Windows NT 4.0, you need
to add registry entries to disable the Save As and Document
Info dialog boxes.

Here's how. (15 easy steps)

01. Restart Windows NT 4.0 and log in as Administrator.

02. Exit from all applications.

03. Choose Start > Run.

04. Type "regedit" in the Open text box and click OK.

05. Choose Registry > Export Registry File, specify a location
and name for a backup registry file in the Export Registry
File dialog box, and then click Save.

06. Open to the HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Adobe\Acrobat
    PDFWriter key (i.e., folder).

07. Right-click the Acrobat PDFWriter Key and choose New > String
    Value from the pop-up menu.

08. Type "PDFFileName" for the new value.

09. Right-click the newly created string value PDFFileName and
choose Modify from the pop-up menu.

10. Type the name of the PDF file you want automatically generated
in the Value Data field, followed by an asterisk, and then press
    Enter.

For example, type "Mypdf.pdf*." If you want to save the PDF files
to a specified location, type the path to that location, followed
by an asterisk. For example, type "C:\MyPDFFiles\Mypdf.pdf*."

Note: If an asterisk is not added to the end of the file name,
Acrobat PDFWriter will delete the string value after using it.

11. Right-click the Acrobat PDFWriter Key and choose New > String
    Value from the pop-up menu.

12. Type "bDocInfo" for the new value.

13. Right-click the newly created string value PDFFileName and
choose Modify from the pop-up menu.

14. Type "0" (zero) in the Value Data field, and then press Enter.

15. Exit from the Registry Editor. (Your changes will be saved
    automatically.)

Then, to create automated PDF files using The Glorious R:BASE 2000
(ver 6.5) and higher for Windows:

Example:

PRNSETUP 'Acrobat PDFWriter'
OUTP PRINTER
PRINT ReportName
OUTP SCREEN

Your automated PDF document Mypdf.pdf will be saved as:

C:\MyPDFFiles\Mypdf.pdf

Hope that helps!

Aloha & Mahalo

Razzak.
