Lynn,
<I have not used temp tables before, couldn't even see where they might be
useful, so I hadn't bothered to become familiar with implementing them. But
I sure am glad that the feature was there when I needed it.>
Using Temp Tables has given me a way to process large amounts of raw data in
a quick and easy manner.
Using Insert with a select statement that sums detail level items into a
recapped form for different categories (product items sales, product
category, customer sales, salesman sales, etc). Then appending this data
into history tables for reporting. I've attempted many other approaches but
the power of the insert combined with power of the select clause has out
done any other attempted approaches in my programming, in regard to the
speed and performance of the process. I also use temp table a lot for
chooses menus that are dynamic and for any process (like inventory on hand
totals for updating on hand values - daily updating) that requires the full
set of the data to be recapped in a smaller set of recapped data but with
the total value being the same.
I seconded your commits on the value of Temp Tables and Razzak's efforts.
Best regards,
Oma Cox
