Phil,

Currently, R:BASE does not support column names with 
more than 18 characters or column name with spaces. 

To achieve your goal of connecting SQL Server table(s) 
with longer column names or column names with spaces: 

01. Based on a single table, create a VIEW in SQL 
    Server Database with required column name(s) as 
    ALIAS column(s) with 18 or less characters with 
    no spaces. 

02. Then, use SATTACH to attach SQL Server Database 
    VIEW.

There you have it ...
