ODBC Connection to SQLSERVER

I connected to a SQLSERVER database through our LAN.  I was able to attach
the table and can view the data.
The problem that is unresolved is:  not all the columns came in because of
illegal names.  Apparently the allowable size of the column names on
SQLSERVER is greater than the column size in RBase.  I need the
approximately eight tables to have valid data.  Has anyone had this moving
experience?  What did you do?
