Razzak,
Prior to attempting to upgrade using Convert Express we had previously
tried to update using the Manual Conversion method as follows:
==========================

Our first attempt was by following the instructions give in CONVERT.TXT in
the CONVERT subdirectory that comes with RBase. To summarize those
instructions for the 3.x or 4.0 users - From C:> NEWDB dbname followed by,
from R> SET AUTOUPGRADE ON, CONVERT dbname.

Our second attempt was by following instructions provided by Upgrading
Legacy Databases from the online SYNTAX.HTM as follows:
        From C:> NEWDB dbname
From R> SET AUTOUPGRADE ON, CONVERT dbname
        With Database connected - UPGRADE

Results were the same in both attempts.
After the NEWDB dbname there were several screens that flashed by so fast
it was impossible to read them.
After the SET AUTOUPGRADE ON and CONVERT dbname the following messages
appeared:

-WARNING-Problems updating index file. index file may have been
corrupted.
-ERROR-Disk problems - Please check disk and files
-ERROR-Database files are out of sync
-WARNING-Problems updating index file. index file may have been
corrupted.
-ERROR-Disk problems - Please check disk and files
-ERROR-Database files are out of sync
-WARNING-Problems updating index file. index file may have been
corrupted.
-ERROR-Disk problems - Please check disk and files
-ERROR-Database files are out of sync
Conversion of this database is complete

A database dbname is present and can be connected, but only system tables
are present.

Ran RBSYNC and it said files were in sync

LIST TABLES for dbname ( which did show on the menu as an available
database) still resulted in listing only system tables.

After the R> UPGRADE nothing appeared to happen with the cursor immediately
returning to the R>, and still only the system tables were the only ones
showing for dbname.

The operating system is Win NT 4.0. The database and all of the associated
command, eep, etc. files are approximately only about 50 MB.
=================================

Because of the failure following the above steps, we then tried using
Convert Express which yielded the results in my earlier message which you
have responded to below.
Can you see where we went wrong using the Manual Conversion method?

Jim
