Thanks for your reply on this holiday weekend.  Yes they are definitly check boxes, but they are all variables and there are no eeps (yet) in this form.  I have other forms with check boxes but they were created with 6.5 (not + or ++).
Could this be a bug with ++ ?

Are you sure they are all check boxes? This is the normal behavior for Radio Buttons. If when you click on one of them you see a dot rather than a check then you are using Radio Buttons. You should be able to check as many check boxes as you wish. I have forms with over 20 on them. The only other thing I can think of is you have your check boxes on variables and the variable is getting cleared in an EEP or something like that.
