G'day Frank,
Try:
1. changing the column width to 4 characters,
2. opening the form and clicking on the field (so that it is updated),
3. adding the #Dup to the field properties,
4. saving the form,
5. altering the column definition back to one char,
6. opening the form,
7. clicking on the field without going into the properties,
8. saving the form.
Let us know if this fools it.
