To Steve and All,
First let me clear up that I am not a moderator on this list. I am just
one of the lowly listees like you.
Second, unless someone has been downright rude, we have always let them
speak their minds here.
But I have to admit that I am really getting concerned for Razzak's safety
as Pakistan is pushed into the spotlight. There have been many incidents
in the Chicago area that are very troubling - many more than I thought
would occur.
There has to be some response to this tragedy, but lets not forget the
goals of the terrorists who perpetrated this:
1. Getting Americans and their allies to turn on their government
and each other.
2. Changing our open society.
3. Generating a response from the west that will foment a 'jihad'
or holy war.
In our emotional demand for revenge, myself certainly included, the US has
to consider the further results of those actions.
There are 1 billion disenfranchised Islamic/middle easterners who have very
little to lose. There are nuclear devices missing from the former Soviet
Union. Even I understand the theory behind a nuclear bomb.
My feeling is that we need to bring Bin Laden and his co-conspirators to
justice, but lets not fall into the trap of giving Bin Laden what he wants.
I hope this moderates the feelings here.
