The NEW SATTACH command

WOW !

THANK YOU Razzak and the entire R:Team !

We have completed a full LIVE test of the new SATTACH command with all of the new features.

We previously were using a workaround between our many Rbase applications and a poorly structured OBDC source (living on a UNIX platform, written in COBOL).

The OBDC source has all of the nightmares that one could imagine.

It has column names like "SCHEDULED_SHIP_DATE_ACTUAL", it has a column "PRODUCT_NUMBER" that is defined as TEXT 6 in one table, TEXT 10 in another and TEXT 16 in yet another.

BUT ... using the new COLUMN level ALIAS feature, we can attach theses tables without issues !

AND THERE'S MORE ! ... the QUALKEYS of the OBDC source are automatically selected unless you state otherwise.

At last we can connect directly from Rbase to the source without column name / type problems ! This saves an incredible amount of time and headaches.

Thanks again to the entire R:Team for their fine work and quick response to our needs. Your commitment to your customers is incredible !

Best Regards

Rich Young
