A shot from the hip on this one:

(SRPL(String, "  ", " ", 0))

Then you'd have to run this SRPL in a loop
until you get rid of all the double spaces.

One problem I recall with SRPL is that it
won't replace any string with a zero length
string.  Somebody correct me if I'm wrong.
