Charles - I'd also look at the order the variables are defined in the report -make sure you don't have any circular logic and that they are defined in the order they need to be referenced.
If you can't figure it out, you may just have to recreate the report I'd do it one phase at a time and run it at each step to see just where the error is occurring. If you get it rebuilt with no errors, you 'll know it was some corruption in the report definition. Good luck!
