About six months ago I stopped trying to use the RELOAD command because I
also ran into the problems listed in the messages below.
I changed the process to the following (as per a message from Eric
Bienstock and others on the listserv) -
DISCONNECT
SET MULTI OFF
CONNECT CurrentDatabase
SET NULL -0-
OUTPUT FILENAME.UNL
UNLOAD ALL
OUTPUT SCREEN
RENAME CurrentDatabase.rb? CurruptedDatabase.rb?
OUTPUT ERRORS.OUT WITH SCREEN
RUN FILENAME.UNL
OUTPUT SCREEN
This worked fast and like a dream until last week. Ever since last
Thursday I get the dreaded "Out of Dynamic Space" error message and
repeated "-ERROR- Unrecognized command - retype" for every LOAD statement
in the FILENAME.UNL file. The data schema is created perfectly, but none
of the data gets loaded.
I can, however, now run the RELOAD command on the database instead,
without any problems. Go figure!
Some additional info - I'm running RBW6.5++, but back in March when I
switched to Eric's method above, I was running RBW6.5+ (++ hadn't been
released yet). My IDQUOTES setting is `, as per Razzak's suggestions. My
Buffers and Files were set to 60 , but I gradually bumped them up to 500
to see if that would make any difference (it didn't).

I never reload with RBDOS anymore. Can't rely on it. Do all reloads with
RBWIN.

Subject: Losing Indices
Have been doing same daily maintenance chore for past 10 years, unload
and 'reload' of database. When reloading, get following error messages:
"Out of dynamic space; insufficient space to process alter command (
235)"
This occurs only at end of process, wherein indexes are re-created. I
lose about 6 - 8 indices.
Win98 OS, Rbdos 6.5++, have re-booted before running process to free all
available memory, have 256mb of RAM on server, entire db size: 195mb, #2
is 161mb.
Any ideas?
Thanks in advance!
