Is it an Age thing ???

I am writing a mailmerge routine.

1.  A filename is created starting with todays
date (YYMMDD) and the user can add some
meaningful text (DIALOG up to 8 chars).
example: vfile = '011212xmaslist.doc'

2.  The routine presents a list of current clients
and from the one they select, they then select
a contact from current contacts linked to that
client.

3.  The unique cnID is added/concatenated to
vcnlist until the user decides the list is complete.

4.  GATEWAY EXPORT CSV &vfile select
cnformal,claddressto,clfullname,cloffice,claddr1,
claddr2,cltown,clzipcode FROM (view) clicont
WHERE cnID IN &vcnlist creates the CSV file.

All works well except that the CSV file is on a local
machine not on the Server as users would expect.

Within My Documents on the Server, folder
Mailmerge sits waiting for CSV files from Rbase.

To be sure the path is correct, I have selected the
path to Mailmerge into the paste buffer from the
command line in Windows Explorer on the local
machine.

Pasting it (as a prefix) to the CSV filename,
GATEWAY throws up an error message
"Syntax is incorrect for the command Gateway"

COPY localfile serverfolder
also throws up an error message, whether issued
from the RPrompt or within a command file.
"Syntax is incorrect for the command COPY"

Thinking it may be an 8 character max problem,
I have also tried 011212mm.doc - same results

Any ideas - workarounds please ?

By the way - European legislation about to be
introduced will state that all individuals who work
for a Registered Company are personally responsible
for E-mail they issue on behalf of that Company
and that they personally can be subject to due
process of law (claims / writs) unless the
Company Registration Number appears on
each item of mail they issue.  Whew !!
