I too use a Palm to enter my billing and mileage data. I use ShortCut keys
to define the client as nnnn-aaaaa. where nnnn= the client number, the - in
the 5th position is a semifor I look for when parsing the line and the
aaaaa. is the text name with a trailing period also used as a semifor when
parsing. I HotSync to Outlook and then export the details from Outlook
Calendar to a text file which is read in to RBase. The Outlook file
includes the date, start time, endtime and the text of the entry. If there
are any Notes attached to the item, they are in another field which Outlook
exports. It works very well and sure saves a lot of time in billing. I
imagine that this sort of thing, especially with using ShortCut keys can be
helpful in any data collection scheme using a Palm.
