The simple answer is NO.

You don't need to reset TIMEOUT setting after each connection
unless you want the different setting for each connection.

. The TIMEOUT settings are set for EACH R:BASE SESSION
which may include CONNecting to 16 databases.

. This setting is NOT a database setting which stays with
the individual database.

Example:

In a command file or in a startup file:

SET TIMEOUT 20
CONNECT NewStuff
-- Do what you have to do
CONNECT History
-- Do what you have to do
CONNECT CMS
-- Do what you have to do
CONNECT Concomp
-- Do what you have to do

The TIMEOUT setting will remain 20 as long as you do not
EXIT.

Hope that helps!

If you are using The Glorious R:BASE 2000 (ver 6.5++)
for Windows, Inline Patch-1, Build:1.850xRT03, then
try the NEW Inline Help System.

At the mighty R> prompt, simply type HELP TIMEOUT

In a command file is it necessary for the "Set Timeout"
to be reset after each connection to the database?
