I had my first experience with XP and R:Base for DOS 6.5++ on a brand new Dell machine yesterday with the following results. The R:Base install was great with a very nice new look. I installed my applications and set the PATH manually without problem in XP. The desktop shortcut PIF file is now located in the C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Desktop directory, instead of the C:\Windows\Desktop directory. The problems occurred when I started the application which I have normally configured to run full screen. The screen had a blue border around the whole area, but the menu (a standard vertical R:Base menu) only occupied the top half of the screen (on a blue background also) and the lower half was black. I tried running it in a window which worked, but was very small. I changed the screen settings from 96 dpi to 120 dpi and that enlarged the window (as well as the screen icons and fonts) so that we were able to run the application. Anybody have any tips or experience with XP to have R:Base run in a full screen mode? I will be writing new install instructions so any other tips on XP would be appreciated.
