Your screen resolution won't make a difference. The exact calendar that is displayed (as well as the specific look of any of the common Windows controls) is based on the ComCtls DLL file installed with Windows. There are many versions of this file. The display in R:Base is designed to handle all versions in common use when the program was released. It's likely that you have either a very new or very old version of the DLL.
