The Records & Retention people showed up to review our procedures. During our conversation they related how their original programmer had set up a wonderful database for their humongous record set in RBASE.
Later the new programmer came in and converted everything to ACCESS. The result was so disastrous, they went out and purchased a package. Unfortunately the vendor is less than prompt with help, and the package itself is very buggy. They said, "The official name of the system is 'That piece of crap'." I raised my eyebrow at their hyperbole. But they reiterated that that actually is what they call it throughout the department. I need a new job, and my current one is phasing out Rbase. ):( Maybe I can talk the Records people into returning to a sensibile system.
