Official Announcement To ALL R:BASE List Server Subscribers
**************************************************************************
March 12, 2002
In light of recent developments that have been happening on this
list, we have decided to post an official notice to outline the basic
etiquette that will be acceptable in this forum. These recent
events have caused great concern on my part because we have
worked very hard over the past 4 years to make great strives in
providing the best in customer service, advancing technology
in the R:BASE program, and opening the door of communication
so that all CURRENT and ACTIVE R:BASE users could
participate in the development of the new products. These
latest events have placed all of this forward progress in great
peril, and we do not want to see that happen. It would be
detrimental to the R:BASE community as a whole if it did. Our
mission is to see that no individual ruins the spirit of the
community.
This list server is to be used for ALL productive exchanges
between subscribers to discuss R:BASE issues related to
programming, applications, technical issues and the like. Job
solicitation is permitted as this list is a great source of
opportunity to all of its members.
Behaviors that are NOT acceptable on this list are as follows,
but not limited to:
* Exchanges of subjects that are deemed to be offensive or
personal in ANY way by either RBTI or the list manager.
* Advertising by ANY subscriber related to their personal
organizations or business affiliations. While we invite the
formation of new R:BASE list groups and training classes
to help spread the word about the product, this is not the
place to solicit for recruitment. RBTI will also respect this
rule by limiting its advertisements to periodically posting
messages of sales events or new product releases. We
do not intend to use, or have the R:List used, as a device
for SPAM. If anyone wishes to contact RBTI directly about
an event that they are organizing, we will be happy to
construct an official announcement on their behalf.
* The disclosure of ANY information which was intended to
be a private correspondence between two or more individuals
who are members of this list. This is NOT the place to hold
spectacles of personal display, as it is counterproductive to
the purpose of the list, and is not appreciated by the other
members. The bottom line is that if a message was sent
privately, it was intended to be so, and the R:List will not
be a billboard for personal disputes.
* Any forms of retaliation or insubordination that is exhibited
against either the arbitrary list manager, any member of RBTI,
or any other subscriber to this forum. ALL decisions that are
made by the list manager are final, and at his/her discretion,
and will NOT be held to a public vote or petition. If the person
who was the recipient of the list manager's decision would like
to appeal the decision, he/she MUST contact the list manager
OR RBTI privately regarding this issue.
Our goal is to provide a productive and informative environment,
for ANY person wishing to participate, to discuss their R:BASE
related achievements, experiences, and other information that
is relevant to the R:BASE subject. This forum is open to ALL
who abide by the rules that are in place, which are designed to
protect the rights of the entire group, not just a particular
individual.
If anyone finds these rules unreasonable or undesirable, they
reserve the right to un-subscribe from this list and join a group
with an environment that better represents their needs. We have
aimed to maintain order and respect, and the aforementioned
rules will be duly enforced by the appropriate personnel.
I personally apologize on both my behalf, and of any RBTI
representative if we have said or done anything to offend members
of this list. Our intent is NOT to be bullies, but rather to convey
our passion and excitement for the power and promise of R:BASE.
Sometimes, this gets our emotions running high, and we are
quick to defend the product that we believe so strongly in.
The Dream Team and myself have too much exciting stuff to do in
the next few weeks to let some little, and hopefully past, personal
disputes disturb the real work that we have to do. I will state for
the public record that I accept Dennis McGrath's apology, and
do not harbor any resentment towards him. I also wish to say that
ANYONE who participates in a civil and professional manner, is
invited to interact on this list. That includes Mr. McGrath and
Mr. Salisbury.
I hope that these guidelines will provide for a more secure and
comfortable environment for ALL of our valued developers and
customers who take time from their busy schedules to participate
in sharing information with the intent of helping others.
Very Best Regards,
Razzak.
P.S. Stay tuned for the upcoming announcement on The Magical
R:BASE 7.0 for Windows. Get ready guys and gals ...
