Thanks very much for the hints.  I solved it.

I created the crosstab with null set to blank and sent that to a file. If the null is 
reset to -0- before loading the file, it loaded properly. When null is left at blank, 
it loads nulls into the table. That is probably due to the long expanse of blanks in 
the file.
